ADMISSION INFORMATION
APPLICATION PROCESS
- Candidates for admission to the Practical Nurse Program may acquire an application at Virginia School of Nursing and Medical Institute.
- Complete the Practical Nurse Program application for admission and return to VSNMI with a $50.00 non-refundable fee, payable to VSNMI. The fee includes the cost of processing the application.
- The applicant must be a high school graduate or have satisfactorily passed the high school equivalency examination (GED). The approved transcript or test scores must be submitted to VSNMI from the school or GED testing service.
- A pre-admission screening test is required for class placement. Applicants who score below the high school level will be considered on an individual basis. The examination has been developed by the staff of VSNMI to identify the ability of applicants in the areas of English and mathematics skills. The test will be administered at the school.
- A $50.00 non-refundable fee, payable to VSNMI, must be submitted prior to the examination and in advance of the deadline date.
- Once all required information and test results are received, the admission committee will review the application and the applicant will be notified of the decision of the committee.
- Once accepted into the program, a General Health Statement must be completed by the student. Students will be required to have a physical examination by a licensed physician indicating fitness to enroll in the program. All immunization records must be submitted and each student is required to have a PPD test or a negative chest x-ray.
